2005 Gil Hibben BRONZE 70 B-DAY HIGHLANDER BOWIE knife Serial #1 of 14
Released October 2005
(Description taken from ebay auction)
THIS IS THE LAST OF THESE KNIVES LEFT FROM THE ORIGINAL SET OF 15 (1 prototype and 14 numbered editions) Released October 2005
As some of the collectors of Gil Hibben's knives out there know, Gil recently turned 70 years old and still goes to his shop every day and makes knives that make the rest of us want to be him. I consider myself very lucky to have been invited to Gil's house for the celebration, and that night sitting around the deck, Gil had a great idea that now I am proud to share with all of the collectors I have gotten to know on the Internet.
Gil's idea was to make a special edition knife as a thank you, specifically for and only sold to all of the collectors on the Internet who buy, sell, trade and collect his knives.
Since the highlander bowie is one of his favorite knives and is one of the most popular United Hibben series knives ever made, he decided that is what he wanted to make this special edition from. Gil then personally resurface ground each knife and acid etched his logo back onto the blade, had the cross guard and pommel copper plated with a very nice bronze patina overlay and had each one engraved "GIL HIBBEN 70TH BIRTHDAY SPECIAL EDITION" and serial numbered X of 14. Each one comes with a hand made display stand which is autographed along the front edge by Gil and serial numbered to match the knife.
He only had 15 made, one prototype to work out the ideas and 14 in the set. The pictures on this auction are example pictures of #10.
This is the SPECIAL BRONZE EDITION GIL HIBBEN 70TH BIRTHDAY HIGHLANDER BOWIE AND AGAIN, IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO COLLECTORS ON THE INTERNET.
Besides the eBay fees I make nothing on the sale of these knives, every penny goes straight to Mr. Gil Hibben and besides serial number 1 and the prototype which I will be taking offers on, every one of them will be sold on eBay.
The reserve on this knife is set at $399.99.
These knives on auction sold on average for $450 each
